IMSP Podcast: Meet alumna Mariana Beckova

On this special edition of our IMSP podcast, we switch it up by having our podcast host interviewed instead! Born and raised in the Czech Republic, Mariana Bečková has been an IMSP student since the beginning. She later transitioned to English College in Prague and is currently studying for her Master’s Degree in Developmental Psychology with a focus on childhood and trauma. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, acting, and modeling, as she is also a Miss Grand Czech Republic winner!

In this episode, Mariana looks back to her IMSP experiences and memories, recounting how she still uses her Montessori education as an adult, and how she managed her transition from IMSP to another school and later, university. She also shares some advice for elementary students!

Twenty one years ago, IMSP opened its door for the first time. This podcast series follows Mariana Bečková — IMSP alumna and graduate of the program — as she shines a light on her fellow Montessori graduates. Celebrating our 20th anniversary last year, we are taking time to reflect with students who have been with us along the way. Understanding your child's inner sense of order

Have you ever noticed that your child enjoys singing the same song over and over again, or wants you to repeat the same story for what feels like a million times? Dr. Montessori highlighted the importance of sensitive periods in children, which are known as windows of opportunities for children to develop skills, including movement, language and most definitely, order. Montessori Sensorial Materials Lead to Sensory Awareness

The materials in the Sensorial area of the Montessori classroom are quite unique – they speak to the tactile observer in all of us. When you consider the way humans take in information, you realize how often we use more than one sense to explore. Reading from a Young Age Matters

A picture is the first content of a book that a child can „read“. Thanks to pictures, a child can understand a story without knowing how to read, interpreting the main figures/animals, the environment, and the situations from the visuals. From illustrated facial expressions and body language the child can also tell emotions.  Enjoying a good book raises a love and passion that is necessary for prereading skills.
