Please welcome this week’s guest to the IMSP podcast – Krishna Ramani!

Currently living in Arizona while pursuing his degree in computer science at ASU, he looks back at his time at IMSP as a period of self-discovery. Speaking with our host Mariana, Krishna shares how the freedom to explore his interests at such a young age helped him to grow his independence and confidence. Transferring these skills into a traditional school setting, Krishna is able to thrive while pursuing his passions. Press play to learn more!

Krishna in his own words:

My name is Krishna Ramani, I attended IMSP from Kindergarten to 2nd Grade. Currently, I am a freshman at Arizona State University studying Computer Science. A few of my hobbies are basketball, weight lifting, and coding on the side.

Twenty years ago, IMSP opened its door for the first time. This podcast series follows Mariana Bečková — IMSP alumna and graduate of the program — as she shines a light on her fellow Montessori graduates. Celebrating our 20th anniversary, we are taking time to reflect with students who have been with us along the way. PEACE EDUCATION

It is no secret that Dr. Maria Montessori is known for her strong advocacy of peace education and how it relates to an essential yet often “invisible” component of the Montessori Method – Grace and Courtesy. Holiday Baking With Your Toddler

It's beginning to look a lot like winter - with first frosts and early dark, but also bright twinkling lights and seasonal decorations wherever you look. Is it any wonder that we populate the long, cold nights of December with candle light, evergreens and the smells of a myriad festive treats? So many delicious flavours belong firmly at the close of the year - hot chocolate and sweet tea, spiced pies, delicate cookies and savoury roasts, all keeping us cozy and warm as well as full.

There are a few things typical to Montessori classrooms worldwide that might give the casual observer a pause. Picture it: you walk into a beautiful Casa environment, full of children working, many of them on mats rolled out on the floor. The students moving through the room know to step between mats, never on them. Of course, in the beginning of the school year it took many presentations, repetitions and reminders to instill this routine in the students.

Learning Mathematics in our Primary Classrooms

Maria Montessori often stated that not only does every human being have an innate drive to understand the environment around them, we all also naturally have what she called a “Mathematical Mind”. In the Montessori classroom, mathematical learning begins through indirect preparation long before a child is ever introduced to any Math materials.
